Parenting Plans

A written parenting plan is an agreement between parents that outlines how they will exercise their parental rights and duties after separating. Usually collaboratively drafted by both parents with the help of a neutral third party or mediator. This valuable legal tool assists parents on various issues, including care, contact, and financial contributions. The agreement also covers essential decisions about raising children in separate homes, such as where and with whom the children will reside, contact between the children and other people (including grandparents),schooling and religion, etc...

Spousal Maintenance

No one is automatically entitled to spousal maintenance, and you must prove your claim before a court will determine the amount and duration of maintenance. The court may, in accordance with a written settlement agreement between the parties, issue an order regarding the payment of spousal maintenance by one party to the other.

The payment of spousal maintenance is not a simple, clear-cut issue and will be determined based on various factors.
